This book, teaches us giving one an understanding and affords us the opportunity to be blessed and favored with wisdom. In our Spiritual Maturity, let us fear God and let us not be foolish but wise and knowable, pleasing God. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction” (Proverbs 1:7, KJV). God blesses us with wisdom for us to use the knowledge we have of Him, in order for us to glorify Him. Just knowing the Bible and facts about God is not all there is to wisdom.
Scriptures tell us, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him” James 1:5 (ESV). If we lack or despise wisdom, we are foolish and not knowledgeable.
In order for us to obey Him and be in obedience, God wants us to have knowledge of Him and His commands, as of His word. Knowledge is when you know you should hear the word and the importance of it Wisdom is hearing and knowing how and when to use it (Word) and how to live it. One can be knowledgeable without being wise. Knowledge can exist without wisdom, but wisdom cannot exist with knowledge. The Bible urges us often to seek wisdom above all things “The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight” (Proverbs 4:7, ESV). Do you know that wisdom and knowledge are related but not synonymous? Wisdom is “the ability to discern or judge what is true, right, or lasting” (The Gospel) Knowledge, is “information gained through experience, reasoning, or acquaintance.” No one (none of us) is born wise we must acquire and can only acquire wisdom from God.
